Mendocino Coast: Wineries of the Mendocino Coast
We began our tour of the Mendocino Coast and what it has to offer with a stop at Esterlina Winery, just outside of Philo, CA. They are not on the main road so you have to know where you're going, but below you'll find a link (and map) to this lovely winery with some award winning treats.
Anderson Valley of the Mendocino Coast is just outside the small town of Philo, CA. Quaint, quiet and charming, this area is a delight to visit.
Inside the Esterlina Winery is tasteful and homey. We sat on the outside deck and enjoyed a full sampling of the Esterlina wines. The 2007 Pinot Noir was one of our favorites, as was the Merlot.
With decades of experience and some beautiful vineyards, you'll find the Esterlina wines to be an appropriate and marvelous addition to any meal. |
Patty Liddy, the wine tasting room director didn't waste anytime in getting us set up on their beautiful tasting deck overlooking the vineyard. Esterlina winery is 50 years old and their flagship wine is a 2007 Pinot Noir Estate that purely treats the tastebuds to a real Mendocino flavor. We also enjoyed their Merlot from the Cole Ranch (also part of the Esterlina holdings). Visit the Esterlina Winery and Vineyards right here.
Susan Zahniser, Wine Educator for Goldeneye Winery, represented and poured for the Goldeneye Winery at our first night's reception for the Outdoor Writers Association of California at the famous Silver's at The Warf in Ft. Bragg, CA. Our evening was a delight of meeting new and old friends, and enjoying the fine wines of Goldeneye.
Located in Philo, CA, the Goldeneye Winery has a healthy assortment of varieties to please any pallete. Visit them here. |
