TIPS ON WHO TO JOIN IN MOTORIZED RECREATION

JOIN THE RIGHT GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS
By Del Albright

When it comes to saving access to our public lands and keeping motorized recreation alive for future generations, the question isn’t who you join — it’s that you join.

It’s not enough to follow a few Facebook groups or click “like” on a post. That’s virtual noise. What truly matters in the halls of Congress and state capitols is the size, strength, and voice of real, organized membership. Numbers speak. Rosters get counted. Votes get noticed.

If you’re serious about protecting your trails, dunes, and favorite off-road spots, it’s time to stand up and be counted. That means becoming a dues-paying member of solid, brick-and-mortar organizations that fight every day to keep your access alive.

Here’s where to start:

JOIN every group you can afford to join. The more memberships you hold, the louder your voice becomes in national conversations.

JOIN your State Association for your sport — whether it’s four-wheeling, dirt biking, UTVing, snowmobiling, or overlanding. These groups are often the front-line defenders of your local access.

JOIN Regional Associations if they’re available and align with your values. These coalitions often have the ear of public agencies and decision-makers.

JOIN a local club — and show up. Learn from those who’ve been in the fight. Share stories, wrench together, and build unity.

JOINING is not just a suggestion — it’s the first and most important step to saving outdoor recreational sports and access.

Let your membership be more than a card in your wallet. Let it be your stand for the outdoors you love.

Your name matters. Your support counts.
Let’s make sure it’s heard far and wide.
