Western Outdoor Writers (WOW) Inaugural Conference, 2004
Reno, NV, Silver Legacy Resort Casino

(Del gets elected to WOW Board of Directors)

At this inaugural conference of the Western Outdoor Writers (WOW), I was elected to the Board of Directors. I am proud to be part of this great group of folks. As far as I know, I'm one of the first power-sports, motorized recreation specialist to be elevated to a Board of Directors for an outdoor writing group.

WOW is a fast-growing organization of dedicated outdoor writers, promoting and representing outdoor communication and education. I will representing the powersports and off highway vehicle recreational perspective on the Board. Here are a few images of our first annual conference.

Going over Carson Pass, Hwy. 88, I was treated to the last remains of fall.

Hope Valley along Hwy. 88 on the way to Reno has spectacular scenery for an outdoor photographer.

During my trip over the hill, I stopped to contrast the red Jeep with the snow capped trees.

WOW took a tour of the Truckee River at Crystal Creek Park outside Verdi.

Noted outdoor writer/photographer Art Merrill tried his hand at fishing the famous Truckee River.

Chad Gourley (R), river landscape specialist working with the USFWS, gave us a great overview of the Truckee River restoration work going on. Lee Allen (L) looks on.

Don Amador opens the morning seminars with a talk on the management of OHV recreation.
